Chateau Morrisette® and Virginia Tech Uncork Hokie Bird Wines
Hokie Bird Red and Hokie Bird White, the officially licensed wines of Virginia Tech, were released on September 9, 2004. Virginia Tech's long standing involvement in enology and viticulture research programs and the university's commitment to improving the overall quality and scope of the Commonwealth's wine industry, makes the partnership with Chateau Morrisette® a natural fit. As with any officially licensed product, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of all of Chateau Morrisette's Hokie White and Hokie Red is contributed to the general scholarship fund at Virginia Tech. Chateau Morrisette® is proud to offer these signature wines to Virginia Tech supporters, alumni and friends.
About This Wine
Featuring citrus and pineapple aromas, this light Chardonnay delights the taste buds with a soft entry, entrancing apple character, and lingering acidity. A fruit forward wine bestowed with a heavenly smooth finish, Angel is a blend of tank and barrel fermented Chardonnay, lightened with Vidal Blanc.
Aroma: Citrus, pineapple. Palate: Fruit forward, soft, apple. Finish: Smooth, acidic. Steel fermented Chardonnay, blended with Vidal Blanc.
Food and Wine Paring
It pairs wonderfully with a wide variety of seafood and lighter meats.
This wine is already near peak when released, although it may age for another year or two. Aging is an imprecise art; excessive aging could lead to a negative effect. Ideally, try some every year and enjoy the wine’s journey. Keep at a uniform temperature – 55 degrees is best.
Please note: We do love our Hokies, but we are non-partisan! If you and your favorite university are interested in an official licensed wine, please let us know.
